The Surepoint Loose Wheel Nut Indicator is a simple and cost effective safety device that indicates the potentially dangerous rotation of a wheel nut on heavy vehicles.
The Surepoint Loose Wheel Nut Indicator gives a clear visual indication of nut rotation or nut absence to drivers, transport managers and mechanics as part of their routine daily vehicle inspection.
Whilst wheel nuts can be checked with a torque wrench, wheel studs cannot without the aid of a laboratory test. In addition it cannot be assumed that wheel nuts set at the correct torque at the beginning of a journey will be at the correct torque at the end, leaving the vehicle operator with an element of uncertainty when a HGV is taken onto the road.
The Loose Wheel Nut Indicator is made from low density polyethylene, a thermoplastic with a melting point of 120°C, also giving it the ability to indicate an overheating hub, associated with bearing failure and over-heating brakes.
